Gender Responsive Budgeting for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Mitigation in Cross-River State, Nigeria (2023-2025). With funding support from African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF).

The Gender Responsive Budgeting for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Mitigation (GRB4SGBV) project in Calabar, Cross River State, aims to address the issues associated with a gender non-transformative budgeting process, which has contributed to an increase in Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Calabar, Nigeria, for many decades. Budgets at all levels remain gender-blind, perpetuating the marginalization of half the population, primarily women and girls. Consequently, stakeholders encounter significant challenges in securing funding intended to address SGBV. The project’s objectives focus on the government of Cross River State and beyond, advocating for the implementation of laws and policies to respond to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. Most importantly, it underscores the need for designated budget allocations for SGBV responses and seeks to increase the number of survivors accessing the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Cross River.
