Project Overview

CGE Africa strengthened women’s collective voice and participation in artisanal mining communities in Ebonyi State through cooperative organizing, livelihood support, and rights-based advocacy. The project increased women’s understanding of Community Development Agreements, mining-related environmental and livelihood risks, gender-based violence, and mechanisms for influencing community decision-making. It also strengthened women’s capacity to advocate for their interests within traditionally male-dominated mining governance structures.
