Project Overview

CGE Africa is strengthening women’s leadership and participation in Nigeria’s fisheries and aquaculture sector by addressing the intersection of gender inequality, climate vulnerability, and sustainable livelihoods. A flagship component is an 11-month Blue Economy Fellowship that mentors 36 young women from four Nigerian universities: the University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, Federal University of Technology Akure, and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. The initiative builds leadership, knowledge, and networks and positions young women to contribute to innovation, policy dialogue, and decision-making within Nigeria’s emerging Blue Economy.
